Commuter rail is extensive in the suburbs of London and can allow a quick trip into the city from Gatwick and other airports. Service tends to be more frequent during the work week and less frequent on Sunday.  Service can be slightly more costly during the commute.   
London is surrounded by suburban towns that offer rail and bus service. Bus or tube is the least expensive option for travel from Stansted, Gatwick, or Heathrow Airports to London.

The DLR train leaves London City Airport for the twenty minute trip to London's Bank Station with stops at Canning Town, Westferry, Limehouse, and Tower Hill among other tube stations.  Bank Station is north of the River Thames at the area of London Bridge.  This is east of Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square.  The cost from the London City Airport is 4.30 pounds.
